All of Chris' Critters Sitters have
been background checked before they are hired. This includes
County-Criminal, NW-Sexual Offender Index, Social Security Act and
Residency History. You can be assured that each of the girls coming to
your home are trustworthy, loyal and have no criminal history.
"It" is a word that refers to things.
Animals are not, they are bon-i-fied family members! There is never a
dull moment in the pet sitting world, as I have learned much more than I
ever imagined about people, pets and their lifestyle choices. It is
funny to say but, "doggie bag" has a whole new meaning and my
vocabulary contains more synonyms for doggie doo than any other word.
"What do you want to be when you grow up?" was always the question. I
think I have found my niche. Knowing the care I have given to my own
feline family (Kirby, Tigger, Cringer, & Merk), I knew that other people
felt passionate about their pets. The thought of them being out of
their routine and familiar surroundings while working long hours or
taking vacations was stressful, and I had to find a solution. With
dedication, hard work and time management on my side, I knew that being
my own boss was just the thing for me. Being honest, trustworthy with
integrity were all great assets to having a successful business.
Treating each pet as if they were my own is exactly what made Chris's
Critter Sitters get a jump start since 2005. We are 300 clients and
going strong. I'm so proud to say that I started this from reading a
few books and just a few business cards. My "girls" are the backbone of
this business and without them, it would not be possible. Thank you.
Julie: Office Manager
My name is Julie and to most I am the voice of the phone.
My two daughters started out working summers with Chris while home from
college. Chris did such an incredible job of building a great
service/business, she soon needed office help and that is where I came
in.
As a multi generational native of
Florida I grew up in the Sanford area spending most of my time here at New
Smyrna Beach. After raising our two girls in SW Florida my husband
and I relocated back here, to the area we call home.
I don't get to visit your animals working in the office, but I feel like
I know them all. I certainly enjoy hearing about them daily and who
knows, someday I might just sneak out and do a few visits!
Ashton: Full-time Pet Sitter
Hi, I am Ashton. I live in
Edgewater with my cats, Homer and Maggie and also my dog, Bessie. I
also have 2 horses (A palomino and a pasofino). I have been riding
since I was a baby. My grandparents used to train, show, and board
horses so I practically grew up with them. I am now attending Dental
Assisting school and in my spare time I like to hang out with family
and friends. I love shopping and going to the beach.
Megan: Director of Bark Services
Hi! I'm Megan, the 'Director of Bark Services'. I've worked for Chris since the holidays of 2005.
I love dogs, especially dogs who enjoy
long strolls on the beach, candlelit dinners...oh wait, that doesn't go
here! I really enjoy what I do - who else can say that their boss has 4
legs, a tail, and is always happy to see them?
When I'm not at work, I'm at the beach
with my mom or playing with my Mohawk Dawg, Pirate. I'm an Elementary
Education major at the University of Central Florida and want to teach
in New Smyrna Beach when I graduate.
Chelsea: Part-time Pet Sitter
Hi, my name is Chelsea, and I live in
Edgewater. I have only worked for Chris
for just a short while and hope that I get the opportunity to share
many more years with them!
I am currently a junior at New Smyrna Beach
High School where I play three varsity sports, volleyball, soccer, and
softball. I hope to go to DBCC for two years to get some of my classes
taken care of and then I hope to transfer to UF for Sports Medicine or
Massage Therapy.
I love animals and enjoy spending time and playing
with them. When I'm not busy with school and sports I love being with
my dog, Stevie. He is a 7 year old daschund and is a little bundle of
energy! Also, Beware!!! If you are around him with food he will eat
ANYTHING!!! After Hurricane Katrina, I volunteered in the transport and care
of dogs that had become victims.
Karen: Part-time Pet Sitter
Hi, my name
is Karen and I live in New Smyrna Beach. I've recently started working for Chris and
enjoy working with pets of all kinds. I've helped raise many types of
animals growing up (or did they
help raise me?) including horses, dogs, cats, mice, love birds,
parakeets, hamsters, ducks, fish, turtles and one of my favorites, a pet skunk!
They were all so unique
and wonderful, and have touched my life in countless ways!
My best and most loyal friend is my 3 year old Australian Shepherd Skye.
We are currently working
on our obedience and agility training. He is also a natural with a
frisbee and we plan on
competing in local frisbee competitions soon. Our favorite place to walk and
play is New
Smyrna Dunes Park.
With three dogs of my own, I share the same concerns as you about your
pet's care and well being when you’re away from home. As one of Chris's sitters,
I will always do my best to make sure your pets are safe and receive the
attention and care they deserve!
Ashley: Part time Pet Sitter
HI! I'm Ashley. I have lived in New Smyrna Beach all my life. I work in the nursery of my church and at an ice cream shop in town when I am not pet sitting.
In my spare time I like to relax with my friends or go to the beach.
I am not allowed to have any pets at home because my family is allergic to anything with fur or feathers, so I absolutely LOVE being able to play with your animals and take care of them.
Amanda: Summer/Holiday Pet Sitter
Hi! My name is Amanda and I recently started working for
Chris in the summer of 2008. I currently attend Florida
State University and will be beginning my Junior year in the
fall of 2008. I'm majoring in
Psychology with goals of attending law school in the future.
All my life, I've been fortunate
enough to have been surrounded by sources of love and companionship-whether it
came from my five little sisters, or the many animals I had growing up.
Currently, I'm the proud owner of a beautiful golden retriever chocolate lab mix and thanks to him, that
love and companionship has yet to cease. Because
of him, I now understand just how special these little critters truly are to each and every one of you and I can't
tell you enough how excited I am to meet you and your pets!!
Amber: Part-time Pet Sitter
Animals have always been a great part of my life. I have three cats,
Billy, Sylvia (or Poo Poo) and Sputnik. I do anything I can for animals
whether it's going on a turtle patrol or simply spending time with my
own cats.
I've rescued many squirrels and adopted manatees.
I work as a Volusia County lifeguard and play basketball for my school.
Once I graduate I will move on to the University of Florida majoring in
either Sports Law or Marine Biology.
Emily: Part Time Pet Sitter
Hey! My name is Emily. I am one of the newest sitters starting in the holiday's of 2008. I've lived in New Smyrna for 7 years and moved to Port Orange for 4 years. Not too long after I graduated from Spruce Creek High in May 2007, I landed an awesome part-time position at the New Smyrna Beach Post Office. In the Fall of 2009, I plan to enroll at Daytona State College, to take Cosmetology classes.
In my spare time, I enjoy running, video games, and playing piano (I've been playing for 7 years). I don't have any pets of my own, (from moving so much and being on my own) but I absolutely adore my Dad's daschands, Chewy and Lucy. Also my best friend and roommate's cats, Chloe, Peanut, Lita, Muffin, and Alchemy.
